In the decade after WWII people still took their holidays at the British seaside.

In the 1950s Hastings Council promoted the town as a seaside resort, making a promotional film in bright Technicolor and producing colourful leaflets, all aimed at convincing potential holidaymakers that the town offered a glamorous alternative to what were still straitened post-war circumstances.
