Carnival Procession Passing the Pier

"Past the pier and bandstand go the gaily decorated floats of the carnival procession...In the Pier Theatre the local repertory comapny performs every night with weekly changes of plays."

In the 1950s, Hastings Council promoted the town as a seaside resort, making a promotional film in bright Technicolor and producing colourful leaflets, all aimed at convincing potential holidaymakers that the town offered a glamorous alternative to what were still straitened post-war circumstances.
