A fishing competition with boats landing on Hastings beach

Fishing competitions have been and continue to be popular in Hastings. Regular competitions were held on the Pier and were sometimes hosted by the News Of the World newspaper. “In the 1940s a prize rod would be given each week for the greatest weight of fish caught and a handsome silver cup will be awarded for the greatest weight catch of the season.”
