The Hastings Alphabet poem

The Hastings Alphabet poem
This "Hastings Alphabet" provides a very and amusing snapshot of Edwardian Hastings.

Notable in the poem are the references to “drink shops” and “abstainers”. While Brighton was known as a louche seaside resort, Victorian and Edwardian Hastings was known to be religious and abstemious.
