The Edwardian Pier

The Mohawk Minstrels visited the Pier every June.

From the 1830s minstrel shows were a significant part of programming for commercial music halls and the popular entertainment of the streets. They were all-male outfits, which sang songs (either solo or concerted), played instruments (usually fiddle, banjo, bones and tambourine) and told ‘cross-talk’ jokes & recitations.
