The Triodome, 1966

The Pier still offered a wide variety of visitor attractions in the 1960s

In 1965 the Royal School of Needlework made a modern-day equivalent of the Bayeux Tapestry, consisting of 27 panels and showing 81 great events in British history during the 900 years from 1066 to 1966. It was made to celebrate the 900th anniversary of the Battle of Hastings, and was installed on the Pier the following year in the specially designed Triodome.
